Q. How do I print from Excel?

Printing from Excel requires setting the options.

  1. Set your page margins
    • On the Page Layout tab, click on Margins, select Normal, Wide, Narrow or Custom margins
    • To center the page, click on Margins, Custom margins under Center on page, check Horizontally and/or Vertically
  2. If you have a lot of columns that you want to fit on a single page, then you can scale the worksheet
    • On the Page Layout tab, in the Scale to Fit group, in the Width box, select 1 page and in the Height box select Automatic.  This will fit all of your columns on a single page, but will allow your rows to go across more than one page.
  3. If you want to change the orientation of the print layout of your page from Portrait to Landscape or vise versa.
    • On the Page Layout tab, in the Page Setup group, click Orientation, then choose either Portrait or Landscape.  Note: Portrait is typically the default orientation.  In the case of most spreadsheets or workbooks, Landscape is the preferred orientation.
    • The orientation can be changed when you are ready to print.
      • Click  File Print
      • In the Page Orientation drop-down box under Settings, select Portrait Orientation or Landscape Orientation.
  4. Printing the Gridlines
    • By default the gridlines don't appear on the printed page.  To print a workbook or worksheet with the gridlines do the following:
      • On the Page Layout tab, in the Sheet Options group check Print under Gridlines.
  5. Print one or several worksheets by clicking on the sheet tabs at the bottom of the Excel window.
    • Once you have selected all of the sheets for printing, then go to File Print
    • Click the tab for the first sheet that you want to print, then hold down the CTL key and select all the tabs of the other sheets that you want to select
  6. Print all or part of a worksheet
    • Click on the worksheet, then select the range of data that you want to print
    • Click File Print under Settings, click the arrow next to Print Active Sheets and select the appropriate option.
